Corn-siderably A-maize-ing! - Mitchell, South Dakota
Hello peeps,
it's labour day Monday, a public holiday and school's starting tomorrow! *gasp gasp* Here's a little update of my past week - the last week of summer hols! *sob*
so it all began, where 4 young adventurous "teens" set out on an epic 4 day, 2500 miles road trip to the west, crossing 4 states and stopping by several towns/cities. It was an adventure of lifetime and they are sure gonna do it again.
29th August 2007, Wednesday
1st stop: MITCHELL, South Dakota
After an 8 hour long drive, crossing Wisconsin and Minnesota, the 4 finally arrived at Mitchell, SD, home to the world's only Corn Palace.
The Corn Palace is adorned by more than tens of thousands of corn and other grains, with plenty of brown and yellow shades splashing across the entire palace. Look how intricately these murals were designed and made.
not exactly fans of hot dogs, but this is cute anyhow....
There's nothing really much to do there in the palace itself. The building has huge hall, where games and events are hosted. Pretty disappointing, but worth a look anyhow since they needed to make stops in between their long drive.The guy in yellow, he has a thing for cowboy hats. I really think he should invest in one, but then again, these hats don't come cheap. Anyone wants to sponsor? :p He could make good of use if he ever makes it to Texas.
2nd stop: WALL, South Dakota
Along highway interstate-90, signs of THE WALL DRUG STORE repeated pop out there and then and being in incurably curious gang, the 4 decided to stop by and check out what this Wall thing is all about. They needed to satisfy their howling stomachs anyway. Good time to stop for dinner.

The post office at Wall - very old school rite?
The 4 settled for Dakotan style buffet at Cactus Cafe. USD10 for all-you-can-eat. Wasn't that fabulous, though the beef was really tender and juicy. Salad bar was quite a turn off though, but that was enough to satisfy their hunger pangs. They aren't fussy eaters anyway.
By the time they arrived at the secluded lodge, it was close to 10pm. 16 hrs! The tired four needed to recharge themselves, and were extremely delighted they got to sleep on Serta mattress bed! The best ever slept on.... they wished they never have to wake up.... hurhur hur...
and the adventure continues....
