lake to lake with our legs

The cool morning breeze did not keep us long in bed as we all woke up at 6:30am today and headed straight for the Capitol Building where the weekly Farmer's Market is held. The Wisconsin Capitol building is the exact replica of the Capitol building in Washington D.C, just that it's a tad smaller.

The groceries sold at the Farmer's Market, albeit more costly, are transported fresh from the farms of Wisconsin. Farmers proclaim their produce to be organic and free of pesticides. Indeed, the veggies, fruits and flowers looked really fresh and it makes one happy just to see the colourful array of display that seems so inviting and mood lifting.

The raspberries were so cheap and tempting I had to buy a pint to try. The protabello mushrooms were humongous! As huge as an adult's open palm. We saw lots of fresh produce we rarely see in the supermarts of Singapore too. We decided to cook "Bak Kut Teh" tonight so we had to get some garlic and guess what? Garlic prices here not only scares the draculas off, it scares us too! A single clove of garlic cost USD1.25!!!

Me: Should we get the garlic??? It's so ex!!!
Songyu: *rubs his chin in deep contemplation* Eh, I don't know leh...

In the end, we bough 2 pathetic garlic cloves from another stall at USD 1.5O. Then we had our lunch... Some lousy canned pasta, clam chowder with bread and reheated fries from yesterday's dinner. After which, we began our expedition walk from Lake Mendota to Lake Menona, clocking more than 8miles. We went around all the campus grounds, visiting our home-to-bes, and the various uni blocks. A very big campus with a very rustic, contry-like feel. I like.... haha I'm contemplating on getting a bike so it'd be easier for me to get around campus.

Clockwise from top left: Lake Mendota, Science Block, Agricultural Block and Biochemistry block.

So by evening, we walked to the Asian Supermart way down South to get our pork ribs. Garlic's also cheaper there. 5 cloves for USD1. *bleugh* And we did it!! Or should I say, Jie and I did it.... Like what Pa said, "just dump and boil the lot". Yummy Bak Kut Teh with "instant" rice for dinner. A little too oily as we didn't have a good enough knife to slice away to fatty parts.

Bon Appetite!
