3rd stop: KEYSTONE, South Dakota

it was a chilly morning. freezing winds caressed their warm faces, but man, there are uber refreshed after a night's rest, especially since they slept on high-grade Serta mattresses. The two girls conveniently left out the guys and went for their morning walk around the lodge (tsk tsk, the lazy guys were still lazing on their beds). Seriously, the lodge is like a haven. It's nestled in the woods, pretty secluded but is an excellent place for a get-away. Mt Rushmore is just 4 miles away and lil' Georgie's (they have become our friends... so we have endearing names for them) protruding face was visible even to the blindest from their lodge. There you go.... the 4 majestic faces carved on solid granite. The enormous granite sculpture portrays the faces of revered American presidents Washington (Georgie), Jefferson (Jeff), Theodore Roosevelt (Teddy) and Lincoln (AB - which is short form for Abraham). The man behind this masterpiece was sculptor Borglum, who spent 14 years craving the faces out of white granite. Amazing eh? Peering through a crevice... Only Georgie's face can be seen. Artsy shot, in my opinion.

Oh, in fact, Jeff's face was supposed to be carved on the left of Georgie but in the middle of it all, they found it impossible to crave the rocks and so had to relocate his face to the right of Georgie, allowing Georgie to steal all the limelight from distant viewers.

The 4 couldn't resist the sight of icecream and not having one for themselves. It was a terribly hot day, and a little ice-cream wouldn't hurt. Mind you, these guys made Coldstone's icecream their staple when they were in Madison! But boy the icecream were humongous. The soft serve was so smooth, the best they've ever had!

4th stop: HILL CITY, South Dakota

The Crazy Horse memorial's just a 20 minute drive away from Rushmore. Along the way, the four stopped by the highway to take a picture with the pretty scenery.
5th stop: CUSTER, South Dakota
