dash's five
Hey people,
hope you guys are doing well. Wow, Jared, can see the immense effort put into ya Friday's Five entry. How did you manage to load such old photos up??? Did you scan them or something? Qing, hope you like ya new hair colour!!! It looks kindda reddish, like mine (initially). Funky! HaZ...
Here's my top 5 childhood faves (also not in order of preference)
1. Mac Happy Meal
YEP, this get another vote from me! Guess we were all brought up in the Mac generation. Every Saturday, without fail, after piano lessons at Parkway's Yamaha, I'll goad my mum to bring me to Macs. I used to collect the toys (like especially the new year collections - still have them at home - but they've stop making them since the Tiger year in 1998). Used to go for McChicken or Chicken McNuggets, but as I get older, I become for of a fish person, so Fillet-O-Fish is the go-go burger now... haha.
2. Cai Tau Kwey (Fried Carrot Cake)
This local delight was a must for me every Sunday morning. My dad will always buy it from the same stall at Eunos market (but I rarely eat nowadays coz of health reasons) and I love it especially black. The more hei jiang you, the better!
3. Hainese Chicken Rice
Another local delicacy - Chicken Rice - another all time fave, but yes, again due to health reasons (do you not know by now that I'm a hypochondriac??? hahaha..... j/k), I've cut down alot of it. Healthy eating is the way to go guys! haha... But I digree. I'd remember how Chern and I (at times with other primary school friends) would go there for lunch, sometimes late lunch at 3 after school. I think it's called Eng Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice and it's still around, located in the coffee shop just beside the road. I'm really gonna miss all these in the States!
4. Jack and Jill Potato Chips
Yet another artery-clogging food (at this point, I shudder at the how I used to eat so unhealthily in the past). I used to snack alot... and i really do mean alot. Everytime I lay my eyes on the google box, I've gotta munch on something - Jack and Jills were pretty famous (and cheap) then. Besides J&J, I terrorised Roller Coasters, Cheezels and Calbee too....
5. Cheap 50c ice popsicle
They are still available these days, what people call the "potong" icecream but back then, it was o so natural, o so good kind... Loved the durian and chendol ones. I think it's not that cheap anymore (maybe 60 or 70 cents now).
Okie dokie... that's my contribution for this weeks five. Jared, weekly friday fives abit "siong" leh? May not be able to upkeep... What about a friday five every first friday of the month? - it's just a suggestion!
